BBQ Caramelized Pears


  • 4 Conference pears, peeled, cored & quartered lengthways
  • 30g butter
  • 20g brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken in half or ½ tbsp. of ground cinnamon
  • Ice cream, for serving, optional
  • Whipped cream, for serving, optional
  • Berries to top with, optional
  • Ice cream


  • Wooden Skewers
  • Barbeque
  • Small cooking pot
  • Basting brush


  • Heat the barbeque to a medium heat
  • Push each skewer through 2x quarters of pear lengthways
  • Using a saucepan, heat the butter, brown sugar (leave a small amount for the end to sprinkle on top) and cinnamon sticks/powder at a medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves
  • Brush the mixture over each quarter of pear and grill for about 3 minutes on each side or until caramelized and golden brown, reapply mixture as you turn the pear skewer to keep them nice & sticky
  • Once cooked serve the pears with a sprinkle of brown sugar, add ice cream or whipped cream and add a sprinkle of berries to garnish
